I do a similar type of work on my off time with micro stock photography (iStockPhoto.com). I've been doing it since 2003 and have about 19000 online sales. But I consistently make a few hundred $$ monthly on residuals. The key thing, just as you pointed out, is producing quality work, and having the income that comes from it be residual. As I do slowly add to the portfolio, I slowly earn more money ongoing, even though I don't put much time in on it. BTW, iStockPhoto does have stock video now, something you might consider. With your viewer base, you can link to your videos online, and increase your sales, but also earn money off referring people to the site who sign up and buy download credits. I am a web designer and want to get into video and production. Your and your father's video has taken my still photography to a new level and I can't wait to get FCP and learn how to edit. Really sorry to hear about your daughter, her singing on the microphone test is the cutest thing I've seen online. Please keep it up and keep it clear and simple all your work is so easy to understand, it's very inspiring.
